In order to help the people of Haiti rebuild their country, I am going to ride a bicycle across ours. Beginning on January 11th, I will ride my bike approx. 3,200 miles from St. Augustine, FL to San Diego, CA. I will be doing this to raise money for the non-profit group Executives Without Borders and their life-saving work in Haiti.
Follow my journey through the southern tier of America on my bicycle through my blog.
Thanks for reading!

Looks like you are planning on riding through the south - that sounds smart since you're starting off in the winter - wouldn't want to go through anywhere with a lot of bad weather. I have done some pretty long bike trips, but I've also done them on a folding bike so that it's easier to travel say by bus or train (and sometimes car) when I have to.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Chris. I've done a bit of research on the weather patterns and averages for the route I'm taking and if this winter is similar to past winters, I should be okay with temperatures ranging from upper 40's to lower 60's. Nights will be cold but I have a pretty good sleeping bag so hopefully I'll stay warm. The folding bikes are certainly cool and a heck of a lot easier to travel with then mine! I'm having a bike shop box mine up for about 50 bucks but at least I don't have to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteWith a good sleeping bag, you should be alright - as long as you stay dry, I think, at least. I'll check for your posts once you start the trip!
